Barbara Nicks, mother of Stevie Nicks, died in Paradise Valley, Ariz., on Dec. 28 following a battle with pneumonia. She was 84.
The death was announced Thursday by the Fleetwood Mac singer’s representative, who said in a statement that Nicks had been surrounded by her famous daughter as well as son Christopher Nicks and granddaughter Jessica Nicks.
“My mom had the power within her to heal and guide so many of us. … She supported me and all of my dreams. She was the one that made it all possible,” Steve Nicks said.

The Nicks matriarch, born in Bisbee, Ariz., in 1927, was married to Jess Nicks, formerly president of the Greyhound-Armour company and rock concert promoter, for 63 years. He passed away in 2005 of heart failure at 80 years old.
Nicks settled down with her husband in Paradise Valley in 1972, and became involved in philanthropy work with such charities as St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, The City of Hope, Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Salvation Army.
No funeral service is planned. A memorial will be held later in the year. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle, where a special fund has been formed in memory of Barbara Nicks.
