Audigier is best known for his logo-laden and rhinestone-encrusted Von Dutch and Ed Hardy goods. And though his creations, which were favored by the likes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Ashton Kutcher and Kim Kardashian, were the butt of many jokes (sometimes standing for the perceived cultural wasteland of Los Angeles as a whole), Audigier’s success can’t be denied.

In 2011, he sold Ed Hardy for $62 million. His net worth is reported by TMZ to be almost $250 million, and his brands are sold in more than 40 countries.

The Los Angeles-based designer, whose death was first reported by LATF, was diagnosed with cancer, specifically myelodysplastic syndrome, which is the bone disease that Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts fought in 2012.

Audigier is survived by his 22-year-old daughter, Crystal Audigier.
