Tracy Owen, Industrial Relations Executive at Paramount, Dies at 43

Tracy Owen, senior vp industrial relations for Paramount Pictures and Paramount Television Studios, died Oct. 1 in Los Angeles after suffering a stroke. She was 43.

“Since first joining our team over 10 years ago, Tracy has been a bright light who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of working beside her,” Nicole Lang, executive vp industrial relations & production safety at Paramount, said in a statement.

“I knew that Tracy was an exceptional person from the very beginning, and her countless contributions and the trust and adoration she earned from all who knew her confirmed that. She was an unwavering source of leadership, wisdom and mentorship to our team and the industry and will be sorely missed. We will continue to hold Tracy and her loved ones in our hearts.”

Tracy Elizabeth Owen graduated from Colorado State University in 2001 and earned her law doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin in ’05. She then served as an associate at Latham & Watkins from 2005-08, at Hodel Briggs Winter from 2008-10 and at Mitchell Silberberg & Krupp from 2010-13.

She came to Paramount as a senior attorney in employee relations legal services in 2013 and was promoted to vp industrial relations in October 2016 and senior vp in October 2022.

Owen created policies and practices that “enhanced the work experience and lives of our union population,” the studio noted. “She also helped turn the department from a reactive group to a proactive, respected and trusted resource and was a mentor and positive force to all who were fortunate enough to work with her.”

Survivors include her husband, Elliott, and their six cats; her parents; and her brother. A private service to be held on the Paramount lot will take place at a date to be determined.
